Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Day Shift Direct Care Professional to join our team in supporting residents with developmental disabilities in a residential, home-like environment. We operate as a group home licensed by the Agency for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (APD).Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered support for daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and community engagement.
• Implement individualized plans and track resident progress using structured logs and documentation systems.
• Design sensory-based and choice-driven activities tailored to residents with varying abilities.
• Advocate for resident autonomy, rights, and inclusion in daily routines and outings.
• Assist with medication administration and coordinate health appointments (if trained and authorized).
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and empowering living environment at all times.
• Collaborate with caregivers and administrators to continuously improve the quality of care.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience in direct care, childcare, nursing, or developmental disability support, or equivalent vocational/college coursework (30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours) in a relevant field.
• Ability to pass a Level II background screening, as required by Florida APD.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Commitment to ethical standards, resident dignity, and APD compliance.
• Completion of additional online course training per APD requirements (e.g., Zero Tolerance, HIPAA, Direct Care Competency, etc.).

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting non-verbal individuals or those with intellectual disabilities.
• Knowledge of sensory-based engagement strategies.
• Familiarity with APD regulations and person-centered planning.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
• Must be comfortable working holidays and weekends when needed.
