Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systmes manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Principal Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location .

This position p lans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power. This role is elegibile for a referral bonus.

Preferred experience for this role:

Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.

• Improves existing designs to reduce cost, improve performance or manufacturability.
• Conducts detailed reviews of customer specifications.
• Prepares or directs preparation of product and/or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
• Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
• Directs and coordinates manufacturing and testing of prototype products and/or systems.
• Assist in trouble shooting prototype building and/or production when necessary.
• Conducts motor performance predictions by analyses of actual data and through the development of design related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.
• May act as project engineer support on selected projects.
• Interface with customers for as required to support existing products or for new development opportunities.

Major Position Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
• Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
• Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
• Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.

Basic Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 8-10 years experience

Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree required

Pay Range (USD)

$102,410 - $190,190

The salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training. Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
