Baer is looking for an SAP FICO GL Lead for a 21-month Government Remote Project.

Title: SAP FICO GL Lead

Location: Remote (Minimal travel to Harrisburg, PA may be required)

Duration: July 2025 – March 2027

Rate: Hourly Plus Expenses Reimbursed

Alignment: W2 or C2C

Project Overview:

Our client is leading a multi-year SAP S/4HANA transformation for a state-level transportation authority responsible for managing and modernizing toll-based roadway infrastructure and enterprise systems. This project includes the migration of ECC, SRM, and BW systems to S/4HANA. The SAP GL Lead will guide the implementation of the S/4HANA General Ledger functionality, including standard ledger configuration, document splitting, and parallel accounting. This is an escalated role requiring deep expertise in S/4HANA GL and strong communication skills to collaborate across technical and functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of S/4HANA General Ledger functionality, including standard ledger configuration and transition from custom to standard ledgers.
• Configure document splitting, parallel ledger accounting, and support Universal Journal (ACDOCA) setup.
• Drive design sessions, fit-gap analysis, and deliver functional specifications aligned to S/4HANA best practices.
• Collaborate with finance, controlling, and technical teams to support integration and data consistency.
• Assist with test planning, execution, cutover activities, and post-go-live stabilization.
• Provide guidance on financial reporting structures, close process optimization, and S/4 innovations.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of SAP FI/GL experience with at least 2 full lifecycle S/4HANA projects.
• Proven expertise in leading S/4HANA GL implementations, including standard ledger configuration, document splitting, and parallel accounting.
• Experience transitioning from custom ledger structures to S/4 standard ledgers.
• Strong knowledge of Universal Journal and the financial data model in S/4HANA.
• Prior experience on brownfield migration projects is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
